i want to go on an adventure. step out the front door with my backpack filled with essentials, and hop on a train or a passing wagon, wander along some meandering path by a river, pick my way through some forest. travel the world ready to take on whatever comes my way, whether it’s fighting bad guys or living on the edge or employing the company of unlikely friends. be part of the action in a quest to accomplish a goal, to destroy an evil something. to uncover an unknown identity or discover weapons of power previously unacknowledged. to lose my backpack of stuff along the way maybe but find that good does exist in the world, that miracles or magic or whatever you’d call them, do present themselves, do provide what’s lacking at the moment of need. i want to pull off something like paul theroux in the old patagonian express, taking the long way to get somewhere but learning infinitely more from observing other people, other cultures, with the journey and adventures undertaken being just as important, if not more so, than the final destination. and so, bon voyage, fellow christians :)
